The narrator's unreliability adds a wonderfully twisted atmosphere to this minimal vignette.

no wonder it took him 1455 pages
when i was seven years old, a group of kids in my grade threw rocks at me for liking neopets more than webkinz. from then on, i was convinced i knew what hatred meant. but i don’t know how to describe it to the little girl who sits in the corner of my womb and in ten years might call me mommy and ask for help on dividing the world into black and white.
would i point to the churches with their bigotry? to the cotton fields of the south in the 1800s? to the classrooms of modern day america? would i tell her about how the jews stood in straight lines, waiting to die, with fear in their eyes and faith in their hearts? or would i try and de

I Mean to Get You Alone
You have sharp
pulse-elevating teeth
the stuff I imagine heart attacks
are made of
I'm bent on selling you a handful of smiles
specifically crafted
to distract you from the fact that
I have almost nothing to say
and now you're steering this conversation
in a direction that suggests you've
forgotten that I
don't watch movies or do much of
anything but work which maybe
explains why one glass of wine gets me
wrapped around you
car to streetlight
crash style
mangled limbs
breeding curious onlookers and my insurance has
expired
you're leaning in and all I can think is
I don't have insurance

For my English class, about a week ago, we had to write a short short story, between 500 and 1000 words. This was my end result...
I read it out loud in class and when I finished, everyone was really quiet and just stared at me. It was kind of freaky
But, then again, the story itself is kind of freaky...
Haha, anyway, comments are always welcome - as well as advice - and I hope you all enjoy
Oh...oh my...my first DD...
Guys, I have no words to express my gratitude for this! Thank you. Thank you all so much! I promise, I will read through all of your comments and reply eventually! I'm getting so many, it's making me giddy.
Thank you to everyone who has commented and favorited this piece. I'm so happy that people enjoyed it! And thank you so much, also, to all you wonderful deviants who gave me some constructive criticism and pointed out some grammatical and spelling mistakes. Those have been fixed.
You can't imagine how much motivation this gives me to continue developing my respective works. Hopefully, I'll actually get something finished now! You've all given me so much hope.
And a big thank you, of course, to ^neurotype, who featured my piece. And my good friend ~EllriNidhogg, because I know he had a hand in this! The sneaky little bugger. Go check out his stuff. He's awesome!
Again, thank you everyone!

I read this ages ago, and I still find myself drawn to it every so often. I find it chilling and comforting every time I read it, no matter how many times I've read it before. Nice job!
